Missouri CASA Association recently received a grant from AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) to assign full-time volunteers to work in the state and local CASA program offices.
What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program founded in 1965. VISTA supports efforts to alleviate poverty by encouraging individuals from all walks of life to engage in a year of full-time service with a sponsoring organization to create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Each VISTA volunteer makes a year-long commitment to serve on a specific project with a sponsor. In return for their service, CNCS provides VISTA volunteers with a modest living allowance, health benefits and an education award.
What will the VISTA volunteers do for CASA?
- In the State Office: create and implement sustainable fundraising activities which will allow MOCASA to hire and maintain a Development Director.
- In the Local Program Offices: develop and implement fundraising plans and/or increase volunteer recruitment efforts.
